VENTILATED PEST CONTROL
Let's talk about thrips
Thrips are a problem for various crops, including peppers, across the world. They measure between 1.0 to 2.0 mm in length and are characterized by their dark and yellow coloring. They have fringed wings and an elongated, and slender body. In greenhouses, insect control screens are necessary to exclude thrips, but they can also block vital airflow.
Xsect is different.
Its unique structure and fibers are uniquely designed to block even the smallest pests like thrips, while maintaining maximum airflow for a cooler climate. It allows plants and people to be more productive.
CALCULATE YOUR ROI WITH XSECT PAYBACK
Get higher yields and reduce your greenhouse costs
The process of choosing the right insect control net can be complex, as there are many different options. When selecting an insect control screen for your greenhouse our Climate Consultants can advise you on the mesh that will keep the particular pests that damage your peppers out, while maintaining maximum airflow.
Xsect Payback calculator is an innovative tool created by Svensson, designed to assist growers in determining their potential return on investment (ROI), profits, and savings with Xsect.

ENHANCE YOUR GREENHOUSE CLIMATE
The power of our climate screens
How can a crop lose its heat to the near-vacuum of space and what kind of climate chaos can that unleash?
In "Thief in the Night," Svensson experts explain the threat that night-time heat loss poses to growing operations in hot regions. We share our own experiences and strategies, and for the first time, we detail what our side-by-side greenhouse trials are showing with our climate screens in a pepper greenhouse.
Benefits of Svensson's Climate Solutions
Achieve the ideal humidity for peppers
An optimal relative humidity for cultivating peppers falls between 50% and 70%. With Xsect you can achieve the ideal moisture level for your pepper crops
Get back in control of pests
Pests like thrips carry viruses which can lead to further plant diseases. With Xsect reduce insects population inside the greenhouse by up to 50%
Healthier and higher quality peppers
Crops protected from insects have a higher quality, which is a result of minimized damage from pests with Xsect nets
Reduced pesticide use
Since the installation of Xsect nets, some growers have reported a 50% reduction in pesticide usage

Case studies: From one grower to another

Inveragro
"I thought that I was going to experience disadvantages with this insect control net, because for me it was more important to sacrifice climate in order to reduce the entry of pests and insects. But to my surprise, I now have a better climate and fewer insects inside the greenhouse." -- Germán Sandoval.
Inveragro, located in the valley of San Felipe, Guanajuato and known for its tradition of producing and drying chili peppers, was having problems with pest control and humidity levels inside the greenhouse. With Xsect Xtra, they were able to reduce the entry of thrips by 50%, while increasing their humidity by 15%, resulting in an ideal climate that promotes pepper growth.
Gomalor
"The results we obtained from the trial cycle we carried out with Svensson's nets were satisfactory, and this year we are implementing a new greenhouse that will be 100% equipped with Svensson's climate solutions."
-- Samuel del Toro
In order to find a solution to the thrips control problem, Gomalor, a greenhouse dedicated to the production of peppers, located in Tuxpan, Jalisco, decided to conduct trials with Svensson's insect control nets, during the 2022-2023 production cycle. The main objective was to maintain an optimal climate inside the greenhouse, without significant variations, while improving pest control, especially against thrips. Based on the positive results obtained during the trials, for the 2023-2024 cycle, Gomalor made the decision to fully equip its new expansion with Svensson climate solutions.

Enrique Peña
"It's been a really good improvement, you can get a higher yield from the crop because with the screen the right amount of radiation enters to reach the plants." -- Enrique Peña
In Almería, Spain, a region known for being a pioneer in modern agriculture and for its extensive hectares of greenhouses, we find Enrique Peña, a grower who has decided to face the challenges of growing peppers by implementing Svensson's Climate Solutions. Enrique has been able to optimize the conditions of his greenhouse, opening new possibilities to maximize and increase the productivity and quality of his crops. He has also demonstrated how innovation and efficient climate management can transform greenhouse growing challenges into opportunities.
Rong Rong Farms
"The number of thrips in greenhouse four was significantly lower compared to the other greenhouses. Given promising crop results, with good growth and less virus and disease, we plan to include Xsect in the future improvement work at Rong Rong." -- Han Mingjun
Rong Rong Farms believe in innovation. They pride themselves in being open to technology and new ways of doing things. Han Mingjun is the 28-year-old who founded the farm just two years ago, having grown up in a grower family. The farm has eight hectares of plastic, multi-span greenhouses where peppers and tomatoes are grown on substrate. It’s located in Yuxi, in the central part of Yunnan Province in Southwest China.

Productos Limpios del Campo
"Svensson Xsect Xtreme net is the only one, after trying others in the market, that truly prevents the entry of thrips without significantly affecting ventilation. Depending on the climate conditions of the area and the pest density, you can use Xsect Xtra or Xsect X-air. However, in my area, due to high pest pressure, it was decided to use the Xsect Xtreme net." -- Alfredo Ochoa
Productos Limpios del Campo is a company that produces bell peppers, located in Ahualulco de Mercado, Jalisco. The region is characterized by maintaining a semi-dry climate, with an average annual temperature of 21.3 ° C, reaching 40 ° C during the warm months. This climate favors the accelerated reproduction and spread of pests such as thrips and a high viral load in the area, representing a fundamental challenge for the crop, the quality of the fruits, and even compromising the production goals.
Pepper growers frequently ask...
It depends on the area, but you should ideally have humidity levels between 60% and 70% inside a pepper greenhouse.
Yes, it is possible you'll see a temperature increase of 1 to 2 degrees, but peppers are a crop that thrive in humid temperatures. By using Xsect insect control screens, you will create an optimal climate for healthier and more vibrant peppers.
- Optimal humidity levels, between 60% and 75%, that will contribute to the growth of healthier peppers
- Reduced thrips infestation in the greenhouse by up to 50%
- Reduced expenditure on beneficial insects used for thrips control
- Decreased need of pesticides and/or agrochemicals within the greenhouse
- Increased harvesting period by up to three weeks
