Cohort-based Course

If it's not used, it's not useful! Set up routines and responsibilities to enable yourself and your team to use and update documentation.

Course overview

Make your documentation efforts repeatable and sustainable for scale

Learn how to create a scalable system that can be standardized across the business, to keep documentation easily updated, relevant, and useful.

This 3-hour workshop will provide guidance and a template for thinking through how to set up this system first for yourself, then involving other people and roles in your documentation efforts for your company or team.

Note that specific tools are only briefly covered in this workshop, it is not a documentation tool comparison class.

The workshop includes pre-work, individual work time, small group breakout discussions about your systems-in-progress, and full group discussions.

It will be most useful for people who have already started creating the documentation itself.

This workshop is also offered as part of a larger 4-session course, this is day 3 of 4 in the larger course. If you're looking for help prioritizing where to start, writing or improving the documentation itself, and handling objections from other people, see the full course: https://maven.com/jen-bergren/documentation1

Next workshop: June 25, 2025, 8AM - 11AM Pacific time

What students are saying

HIGHLY RECOMMEND for anyone who’s taken on the important role of CDO “Chief Documentation Officer” for their organization. Great process documentation is a critical Step 1, but what happens next? Jen expertly guides you through establishing the right system to keep your documentation updated and easily accessible for your team. The workshop is collaborative, informative, and comes with tons of follow up resources.

This course was fantastic -- really helped my team finally get moving with concrete action items and a plan instead of still debating how we could start.

I just keep learning how to knock down knowledge silos with Jen Bergren! This workshop gave me a framework for how to take the documentation I created in her previous workshop from v1 to v2 and beyond. This is really good for me because I am still working on the mindset that "done" is better than "perfect" or even "good." Another great takeaway was learning how and when to include other people in my documentation system, which I already know is going to open new possibilities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing. 💡
